OREANDA-NEWS. February 18, 2013. The State Science and Technology Awards Conference was held by the Central Committee of CPC and the State Council in the Great Hall of the People. Two projects of TISCO won the second class award of the State Science and Technology Progress Awards, one more than last year, reported the press-centre of TISCO.
 
The projects that won the second class award are “the Key Technology of Preparing Quality Blast Furnace Burden with Difficultly Agglomerated Iron Ore Resources” and “the Research, Development and Innovation Platform for Modern Rolling Technology, Equipment and Product.” These two projects are accomplished by TISCO with relevant universities and steel companies. This reflects the enhancement of TISCO’s innovation and R&D ability and shows TISCO’s competency in industry-university-research institute collaboration.
 
The Key Technology of Preparing Quality Blast Furnace Burden with Difficultly Agglomerated Iron Ore Resources solves the technical problems during the preparation of blast furnace burden with difficultly agglomerated iron ore resources. This technology has been widely applied in 13 iron and steel companies including KISC, Ansteel,TISCO and Baosteel. 130 million tons of sinter and 2.8 million tons of pellets were produced by this technology every year, which accounts for 50% of the new production in recent years. Its direct economic benefit is 2137 million yuan in the past three years. This technology plays an important role in solving the shortage of quality ironmaking raw materials and the problem of using difficultly agglomerated iron ore resources in our steel production, greatly improves the science and technology of the BF burden preparation and makes a major contribution to the rapid development of China iron and steel industry in the past ten years.
 
The Research, Development and Innovation Platform for Modern Rolling Technology, Equipment and Product can accurately and clearly simulate the processes, deformation, mechanical parameters and microstructure evolution parameters of the actual production field by using properly designed small samples and test new ideas and processes. The application of this platform can greatly improve the product quality and property, reduce production cost and enhance the core competitiveness. It has great economic and social benefits.
