OREANDA-NEWS. The company intends to carry this out by expanding itsline for manufacturing of threaded couplings, launched two years ago on the basis of Austrian turning lathe complex EMCOTURN E65-Big Bore. To increase the production capacities the company will purchase several additional units of high-precision super-fast metal processing equipment, which will serve as a basis for a dedicated mini-factory for manufacturing couplings for fixtures.

A representative of Holding TITAN-2 visited the head facility of EMCO Maier GmbH in Hallein (Austria). This was a business-visit aimed at facilitating a creation of new technology for manufacturing couplings under the brand TITAN, using the most modern high-productivity turning lathe complexes with NC HYPERTURN 665, MAXXTURN E 65 and VT 160 of the Austrian company EMCO Maier GmbH. The Holding is preparing its first compact multi-machine production facility, as well as planning to integrate the already available equipment into the new production process.

The technology was developed in two stages. First, EMCO technology, software and production preparation specialists visited the specialised facility of the Holding for production of couplings. The obtained data was then used at EMCO Maier GmbH plant to create a new technology for manufacture of couplings TITAN. Work was completed in collaboration with representatives of Sandvik Coromant (Sweden). In order to ensure greater efficiency of the new equipment, the specialists selected a cutting instrument and auxiliary tools, created optimal control programs for the future machines with NC using a software platform Siemens Shopturn, manufactured control samples of the product and recorded the time required for production of each detail.

The obtained data will be used to ensure that the new mini-factory for production of mechanical couplings for fixtures will be organised with attention to every essential aspect of the production process. The mini-factory will start operation already in summer 2013. Current efforts also includes negotiations for purchase of specially manufactured equipment. After the new mini-factory reaches its planned production capacity, which will be a planned increase of the current capacities almost fivefold, the manufacturing complex will make the Holding a full-fledged player of the Russian and CIS market of mechanical couplings for fixtures.

Holding TITAN-2 is the largest group of companies in the North-West Region, working in the construction of the most significant facilities for the nuclear power plants and industry. Its business units provide a full cycle of construction – from design of project documentation to delivery and commissioning. Exceptional work is ensured by over 4,000 highly qualified staff specialists working across 15 business units. TITAN-2 is one of the contractors involved in construction and installation works at the power units 1 and 2 of the Leningrad NPP-2. 145 construction sites are simultaneously underway.

The specialised metalwork unit was set up on the basis of the holding's subsidiary company OJSC UAT in 2012. The production capacity of the coupling compound is 4,000 units per month, while working in a single shift. Its production line can produce a wide range of other lathe products, with the diameter varying from 1 to 600 mm, and precision of up to 4 microns. The high quality of couplings manufactured by TITAN-2 is confirmed by a certificate of compliance GOST R No. ROSS RU.SL 86.N00040.
