OREANDA-NEWS. Within the fulfillment of the obligations connected with the reducing of industrial impact on the environment nitrogen dust control systems of blast furnace casting yards have been successfully tested and put into operation at PJSC “Ilyich Iron and Steel Works of Mariupol” of Metinvest Group.

This scale ecological project is a part of the program “protection and creation of a healthier urban environment of the Mariupol city during 2012-2020 years”, and it is also a part of compensating conservation measures during the building of pulverized-coal injection unit. The realization of the project will allow shortening the emissions into atmosphere on 1500 tons per year.

The manufacturing of the needed amount of nitrogen for the embodiment of dust-control technology is fully provided with the air-separating unit – ASU-60 of the oxygen shop. Gas is delivered on the notches of blast furnace casting yards during the discharge of heat products due to which suspended matters come into dust catchers and not go into atmosphere in the form of red fume. Operating committee fixed the achievement of project factors of the dust control effectiveness – 50 percent.

“The introduction of nitrogen dust control system at the blast furnace casting yards is a next step of the Works to improve the ecological situation in Mariupol, underlines the General Director of PJSC “Ilyich Iron and Steel Works of Mariupol” Yuriy Zinchenko. – Our major task for today is to modernize metallurgical production according to the norms of Ukrainian conservation law. In connection with this we shall continue to invest means for specific ecological measures”.
