OREANDA-NEWS. Specialised metal processing site, recently established at the Holding's subsidiary UAT OJSC, has manufactured its first 1,250 couplings for the construction site of nuclear power plant in the Kaliningrad Region.

Couplings under the brand TITAN are the only type of Russian threaded couplings for fixtures used at the construction of nuclear power plants in Russia. Since autumn 2012 the Holding has been supplying its couplings to the construction site of Leningrad NPP-2, and in 2013 it began shipping to the site of Baltic NPP, as well as selling this product on the civil construction market across Russia.

Right now the first batch of 1,250 couplings is being shipped to the construction site. They will be used for the construction of auxiliary buildings, as well as a little later – in constructing the core power unit facilities: reactor and turbine. Using mechanical coupling for construction fixtures helps save time and effort of the construction staff during reinforcement works, as it allows to complete the process without turning to complex welding works.

Mechanical couplings for fixtures used to be purchased overseas, but the manufacturing process, now fully based on the own production capacities of the Holding, will fully satisfy the construction demand for this product at the sites of both Leningrad NPP-2 and Baltic NPP.

The high quality of couplings manufactured by TITAN-2 is confirmed by a certificate of compliance GOST R No. ROSS RU.SL 86.N00040.

Holding TITAN-2 is the largest group of companies in the North-West Region, working in the construction of the most significant facilities for the nuclear power plants and industry. Its business units provide a full cycle of construction – from design of project documentation to delivery and commissioning. Exceptional work is ensured by over 4,000 highly qualified staff specialists working across 15 business units. TITAN-2 is one of the contractors involved in construction and installation works at the power units 1 and 2 of the Leningrad NPP-2. 145 construction sites are simultaneously underway.

The specialised metalwork unit was set up on the basis of the holding's subsidiary company OJSC UAT in 2012. The production capacity of the coupling compound is 4,000 units per month, while working in a single shift. Its production line can produce a wide range of other lathe products, with the diameter varying from 1 to 600 mm, and precision of up to 4 microns.
