OREANDA-NEWS. February 22, 2013. Following the results 2012 there were built 10.75 million square meters of housing in Ukraine. This is the highest result for the last 19 years. This was announced by vice Prime Minister Oleksandr Vilkul.

According to the State Statistics Committee, the closest rates were demonstrated in 2007 and 2008, prior to the global economic crisis. Then it was constructed 10.2 and 10.5 million square meters of housing, respectively. And in 2009 this figure had fallen to 40% and amounted to only 6.4 million square meters.

Since 2010, as part of the program of economic reforms, President Viktor Yanukovych growth of the housing was restored. The volume of commissioned housing in 2010 was 9.3 million square meters, and in 2011 - 9.7 million square meters. In 2012, the figure was 10.75 million square meters. This is the highest figure for 19 years.

"The dynamic growth of housing construction - this is a positive trend in the economy. This is a sign that one of its key industries steadily overcoming the consequences of the global financial crisis, providing tangible impetus to the domestic market, increase its competitiveness and to create new jobs. Everyone knows that one job in construction industry gives five jobs in related industries," Oleksandr Vilkul said.

The Government is going to increase the volume of housing construction. As head of the Ministry of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Communal Services Gennadiy Temnyk, according to preliminary results of January 2013 it was put into operation more than 2 million square meters of housing. Minister ensured that these results were achieved thanks to deregulation of the permit system in the construction industry. As a result, in 2012 112,856 construction projects were commissioned in Ukraine, it is more than in two times compared with 2011 year.
