OREANDA-NEWS. St. Petersburg Airport has not been closed due to unfavorable weather conditions during 2012/2013 winter season. In 2012 the Airport motor pool was replenished with up-to-date vehicles designed for runway and taxiway winter service, specifically six Vammas PSB 5500H snow removal vehicles, Schmidt ASP 45 vehicle - for spreading of anti-icing fluid and the multipurpose Skoda Octavia-mounted continuous friction measuring equipment (CFME) - for automated measuring of friction values on the runway as well as measuring of chemical agent concentration. New equipment makes it possible to improve quality of cleaning and shorten time required for complete cleaning of the runway up to 10-20 minutes, thus positively affecting the Airport operation and allowing to avoid significant flight delays.

According to the Report on Regularity of Flights Performed by Russian Airlines made by Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya), Rossiya Airlines (Pulkovo-based carrier) is the most punctual airline of the Russian Federation. Due to measures taken by the Airport in order to maintain flight regularity, only 1,41% of 2912 flights performed by the Airlines in January 2013 were delayed.

Rossiya Airlines is the most fast growth Russian airline. In 2012 the Airlines showed increase of traffic and take offs/landings operations. The growth of passenger flow is amounted to 700 000 passengers. That is the greatest rate among Russian airlines operated at Pulkovo. Rossiya Airlines flies to 96 destinations from Pulkovo.
