OREANDA-NEWS. A delegation of Fortum (Finland) and representatives of the Finnish supervisory agency (STUK) paid a working visit to OJSC Mashinostroitelny Zavod (a part of the Fuel Company of Rosatom TVEL) to inspect fabrication of nuclear fuel to be supplied to Loviisa Nuclear Power Plant in 2013.

Finnish colleagues were interested in various technical aspects of the fabrication process, situation around manufacture of components and fuel assemblies, improvements in the fabrication process, qualification of new processes, and quality control records.

During their visit, the guests visited the company’s main production workshops and attended a number of meetings with MSZ management.

Finnish specialists were satisfied with the results of their visit. They point out that OJSC MSZ still pays much attention to the quality of their products and continues to improve in this area.

Cooperation between OJSC MSZ and Fortum started in 1971. OJSC Mashinostroitelny Zavod fabricates nuclear fuel for both power generation units of Loviisa Nuclear Power Plant.

Following the meeting, a protocol was signed, wherein it was stated that all planned fabrication supervision activities had been completed, and that there were no critical comments or observations based on inspection findings.
