The old bridge was built in the 50's of last century, and it needed reconstruction. Due to its low capacity, citizens often have problems with traffic jams, which negatively affected the entire transport network. In May 2012 at the request of the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych it has been begun the construction of a new bridge.
