OREANDA-NEWS. March 06, 2013. China processed 38.13 million metric tons of crude oil in January, up 5.3% from a year earlier, data from the National Development and Reform Commission.

The crude runs, equivalent to 9.02 million barrels a day, were 11.6% lower than December's 10.2 million barrels a day, according to Dow Jones Newswires calculations.

China's diesel output in January was almost flat on year, while gasoline output was up 15.1%, the NDRC said, without providing the total amount.

However, it said that China's total output of refined oil products, which include diesel and gasoline, rose to 23.52 million tons, up 5.9% on year.

The country's apparent consumption of oil products in January was 20.48 million tons, up 5.7% on year. Apparent consumption of gasoline was up 2.6% on year, and apparent consumption of diesel was up 7.1%, it said, without giving the total amount.

The NDRC didn't explain how it calculated apparent consumption.

Meanwhile, China's stockpiles of refined oil products at the end of January rose by 2.19 million tons from December. Stockpiles were 750,000 tons higher than in January 2012, the NDRC said, without disclosing the level.
