OREANDA-NEWS. In 2012, DTEK has allocated over 2.8 billion hryvnias for sustainable development projects, having doubled the last year’s investments. This amount includes investments in social development projects in towns where the company operates as well as health, safety and environmental projects.

The significant growth in investments is attributable to the expansion of the company and increased spending on environmental and occupational safety and social development. DTEK has doubled its investments in social partnership programmes with the towns where its enterprises are located to 63 million hryvnias compared to 2011.

“DTEK is committed not only to raising the safety standards and minimizing its impact on the environment but also to developing the regions where our companies are located,” said DTEK's Director for External Affairs Aleksandr Tolkach. “We have developed long-term social partnership strategies that let us focus on our priorities, monitor and assess project implementation. DTEK's long-term strategic task is to raise the living standards in the towns of its operation. In 2013, we are planning to invest over 120 million hryvnias in social partnership programmes, with a total of 350 million hryvnias to be spent in the next three years.”

Last year, DTEK spent over 514 million hryvnias on maintenance of social and non-industrial facilities. The largest share of costs lies with the maintenance and repairs of boiler houses, recreational facilities, catering establishments, rest centres, housing and sports facilities.
