OREANDA-NEWS. March 12, 2013. Committee of Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan on industry, construction and trade held a session to discuss implementation of programme on preliminary measures on implementation of important strategic projects, included into investment programme for 2012, expansion of production new competitive products, as well as industrial programmes on modernization and reconstruction of production capacities.

The session considered a report of Minister of Economy of Uzbekistan Galina Saidova. MPs, representatives of Cabinet of Ministers, ministries and departments, as well as others participated at the session.

Participants paid attention to implementation of investment projects, included to the state programme for 2012, increase assortment of production of competitive products, modernization of production capacities with introduction of new technologies.

It was said that Uzbekistan pays attention to production of competitive products in implementation of priority direction of investment policy. The country introduces new high-technological equipment and technologies.

The session underlined that the country created favourable investment environment and preferences. In 2012, the volume of investments into fixed capital made up 22.1 trillion soums. The volume of capital investments, directed to processing industry, grew from 53.3% in 2012 to 54.2% in 2012. Almost 35.1% of investments in 2012 were directed to purchase of modern equipment.

Participants underlined that 290 objects have been launched in Uzbekistan in 2012 due to implementation of programme on priorities of industrial development of Uzbekistan in 2011-2015”, programme “On preliminary measures on expanding volume of production and launch of production of new competatives products” and programme “Invetsmenr programme for 2012”.

It was said that capacities on production of speed meters, automobile wires, compressors, digital TV tuners, energy saving lamps, LCS lamps, modems and other goods are operating at free industrial and economic zone in Navoi. In 2012, Uzbek leader signed a decree on creation of special industrial zone Angren. Currently, 22 projects are implemented there. Eight of them will be launched in 2013.

It was said that Uzbekistan launched new capacities on production of industrial products in 2012, including production of defoliants, nitrogenous phosphatic fertilizer, ammonium nitrate, etc. Uzbekistan purchased two Boeing-767-300 ER airplanes, 100 buses of Mercedes Benz, 20 trams of Praga Imex, three locomotives and 52 wagons, rehabilitated 240 km of railroads, etc.

It was said that Uzbekistan is cooperating with large financial organizations and foreign companies in implementation of the projects. Among them are Asian Development Bank, World Bank, Islamic Development Bank, South Korean and Japanese banks, several Arab states and others. At the meeting, it was noted that the enterprises should speed up implementation of investment projects and the participants made proposals on improvement of legislation and mechanisms of implementation of state programmes.
