OREANDA-NEWS. Moscow Domodedovo Airport commenced modifying freight registration system: data communication with customs unit will be carried out digitally. At the end of February Domodedovo Cargo pioneered in the Moscow Aviation Hub digital signature for Domodedovo temporary storage warehouse. Trial period of digital signature system was successfully completed and on 27 February first e-document was received and registered with Domodedovo Customs office (cargo).

Temporary storage warehouse-keepers provide cargo acceptance and delivery documents on large bulk daily. For example, in 2012 Domodedovo Cargo provided to Customs office more than 6 500 temporary storage warehouse freight acceptance documents per month. Launching new digital workflow will allow appreciably cutting the time taken to process Customs operations.

In the long term there will be no need of paper documents at Customs office and temporary storage warehouse-keepers data communication.

Digital signature system adoption was a precondition for Domodedovo Cargo membership in e-Freight project launched in Russia last year. E-Freight is a pilot project for implementation of the international standards for electronic processing and tracking of air cargo. New technology will give Domodedovo a significant competitive advantage and will allow Domodedovo to stand leading ground in sphere of freight transfer operations.
