OREANDA-NEWS. March 22, 2013. Through unfavorable weather conditions the start of spring field activities is slightly delayed. In case winter weather lingers in Ukraine, the term of spring sowing campaign will shorten. Thus far, the sowing activites are lasing in six southern areas with 480 thousand hectares having been sawn. This was informed during a briefing at the Cabinet of Ministers by Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Mykola Prysyazhniuk.

“In Crimea the sowing of cultures of early group has completed on 92 thousand hectares (103% from the plan), in Odessa region – 141 thousand hectares (75%), Kherson – 131 thousand hectares (84%), Mykolayiv – 63.3 thousand hectares (71%), Zaporizhzhya – 40 thousand hectares (18%), Dnipropetrovsk – 7 thousand hectares (3%), Donetsk – 3.7 thousand hectares (2%). It makes up 16% from the forecast. Last year by this period there were sawn only 0.4 thousand hectares versus 480 in the current year,” the head of the department informed.

“It (the shortened term of sowing campaign) will demand maximal concentration of material resources. For now in the overwhelming majority of economies there were accumulated resources (fertilizers, seeds, means of plant protection) in compliance with the need,” summed up the head of the ministry.

So, in the current year agrarians purchased by 20% fertilizers more than last year. Nowadays they have 1 million 57 thousand tons of nutrients. Besides, agriculture producers bought 23.3 thousand tons of means of plant protection. Moreover, the agriculture workers bought 93% of diesel fuel and 91% of petrol from the technological demand for the spring period.
