OREANDA-NEWS. March 22, 2013. The State Agency for Energy Effectiveness and Energy Saving and 8 agrarian associations have signed a Memorandum on cooperation. The task of the document is stirring up a process of introducing of energy effective technologies and projects in the national agro-industrial complex.

Among the signatories were all-Ukrainian public association Ukrainian agrarian confederation, Agrarian Union of Ukraine, association Ukrainian club of agrarian business, the Union of poultrymen of Ukraine, association Ukroliyaprom, the National University of bio and nature resources of Ukraine, association the Union of mushroom producers of Ukraine and the profile Bioenergy association of Ukraine.

The head of State Agency for Energy Effectiveness and Energy Saving of Ukraine Mykola Pashkevych at the signing ceremony noted: “The national agro-industrial complex ahs the lowest among the rest of economic sectors level of energy effectiveness which in comparison with the EU countries makes up 33%. On the one side, it proves low availability of modern energy effective technologies and limited financial resources, on the other side – unawareness of agrarians about the ways to draw investments and search of internal sources of modernization of the productive base”. According to the head of the Agency, it proves possible to change the situation for the best and approach the national agriculture sector to the European level of energy consumption with joining efforts of business and authorities.   

The Director General of Ukrainian agrarian confederation Serhiy Stoyanov is convinced that we should rely on biofuel in order to raise energy effectiveness of the national agro-industrial complex.”Ukraine has favorable conditions for growing cultures as a raw material for production of fuel. Under conditions of separating 10% of agriculture lands to sow with colza and yield in 25 hundredweight per hectare we will be able to grow annually up to 8.5 mln tons of colza seeds with production in the result around 3 mln tons of biofuel annually. It can satisfy the annual need of the country in diesel fuel by 60%,” commented the situation Serhiy Stoyanov. He also emphasized that the members of Ukrainian agrarian confederation are actively introducing energy efficient projects and are ready to share their successful experience in the future.

In the end of meeting the head of State Agency for Energy Effectiveness and Energy Saving of Ukraine Mykola Pashkevych called on other profile organizations to the collaboration. “I am convinced with the joint efforts we can significantly improve the showing of energy effectiveness of the national agro-industrial complex,” M.Pashkevych emphasized.
