OREANDA-NEWS. March 26, 2013. In January-February of 2013 production of foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco in Ukraine grew by 6.3% as compared to the analogous period of 2012. This was informed by Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Mykola Prysyazhiuk.

“From the start of year we can observe sustainable tendency of strengthening production of majority of products of foodstuff and processing industry. So, in January-February of 2013 production of foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco in Ukraine grew by 6.3% as compared to the analogous period of 2012. In particular, there significantly grew livestock production – meat of cattle, pigs. We could have managed to grow most the production of frozen poultry – by 65.7%,” Mykola Prysyazhniuk emphasized.

In addition, the Minister stressed that production of dairy butter upped by 15%, fresh cheese – by 8.6%. Besides, the national enterprises of food and processing industry ramped up production of fruit and vegetable juices by 21.7% and non-alcohol beverages by 22.9%.

The head of the department accentuated that volumes of export of food and processing industry significantly increased.

“It is crucial that export of ready production with added value is developing. So, in January-February the amounts of food and processing industry upped by 298.1 million dollars, which is by 25.7% as compared to the respective period of 2012. Overall, for the mentioned period export of this production reached 1.5 billion dollars,” Mykola Prysyazhniuk added.
