OREANDA-NEWS. Tugnui Loading and Hauling Division (Tugnui PTU), a hauler carrying coals from Tugnui open pit (the Republic of Buryatia), put two new state-of-the-art main-line diesel locomotives into operation.

Diesel locomotives 2ТЭ116УД designed by Lugansk diesel locomotive works (PAO Luganskteplovoz) part of Transmashholding in association with General Electric are to replace diesel locomotives 2ТЭ10 operated at PTU to date. Each 2ТЭ11УД locomotive of 3,100 kW is equipped with electronic systems GEVO-12 by General Electric to control the diesel mover and the locomotive, features dedicated axle control of traction engines, boasts increased overhaul periods to reduce maintenance expenses, and higher fuel-efficiency.

PAO Luganskteplovoz will provide training for the personnel operating and servicing the new diesel locomotives. Upon commissioning and running-in, the diesel locomotives are to be tested at the Eastern Siberia Railways traction-and-power-generation laboratory.

Purchasing the new diesel locomotives is a milestone in the program focused on improving the logistic infrastructure of Tugnui open pit and its loading and hauling division. The program provides for renovation of railway stations and already contributed to building a facility for equipping diesel locomotives.
