OREANDA-NEWS. ОАО Severstal, one of the world’s leading steel and steel-related mining companies, has secured a contract to supply metal rolls to Renault-Nissan Alliance projects in Russia. The contract runs through from March to August 2013 and, now with 87% of market share, secures Severstal’s position as the leading supplier of metal rolls to international automobile manufacturers’ operations in Russia.

Metal rolls from Cherepovets Steel Mill will meet 79% of the Renault–Nissan Alliance’s demand in Russia.

The Cherepovets Steel Mill, part of the Russian Steel division of Severstal, will supply car body sheets for Renault’s Moscow–based production, and the same products will be supplied to the Renault–Nissan Alliance’s industrial project.

Furthermore, this year the Cherepovets Steel Mill will work with the Renault–Nissan Alliance to develop steel grades new to Russian production and deliver trial products for testing ahead of localization to Russia of the manufacturing of a range of the alliance’s automobiles.

The representative of Severstal’s Customer Technical Support started operating in Moscow, providing service among the clients and consulting them on the issues concerning metal processing.

Mr. Dmitry Goroshkov, Marketing and Sales Director at the Severstal Russian Steel Division, commented: “Aligning our business to satisfy the requirements of international carmakers who have localized production in Russia is a key strategic focus for Severstal and we are well positioned to build our presence in this segment through developing new steel grades and offering un-matched, value-added service.”

In 2013 Severstal is going to continue development of two service centers near St. Petersburg (JV with Mitsui, JV with Gestamp) to supply stampings for the auto and machinery industries.
