OREANDA-NEWS. Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation, the world’s largest global IT and telecommunications services holding company, will establish NTT Innovation Institute, Inc., a new R&D center in San Mateo, California on April 1 to accelerate the development and provision of highest-grade information security and cloud computing technologies.

As a wholly-owned subsidiary of NTT, NTT I3 will initially focus on promoting the development of services tailored to the North American market. Best practices concerning intellectual property solutions applied in a modular format in North America will be rolled out globally, including Japan and emerging countries.

In the rapidly changing field of cloud computing, cloud service providers are required to roll out competitive, market-driven services quickly.

In line with its medium-term management strategy “Towards the Next Stage,” announced on November 8, 2012, the NTT Group is strengthening its global cloud services as a key pillar of growth. With one of the largest R&D budgets, now USD 3.5 billion annually, the NTT Group is focused on both advanced and applied research and development. At a new R&D center, NTT and its group companies are collaborating on the development of new services to gain a competitive edge by combining their technical capabilities and intellectual property expertise, as well as by incorporating open innovation.
