OREANDA-NEWS. Kirovsky Zavod launched the infrared heating system in the industrial premises. The unique energy-saving project worth 16 million rubles will pay for itself within three years and allow the company to provide heating in the workshop of 5,000sq.m and completely abandon the central heating system.

The infrared heating system was installed in the assembly shop of CJSC "Universalmash" (subsidiary of JSC Kirovsky Zavod). The room with area of 5,000sq.m and the height of more than 18 meters was divided into 4 independent zones each heated by 8 infrared heaters. The devices located on the walls at the height of 8m are programmed to maintain the temperature specified for each part of the shop during the work shift. At the same time, the parameters are reduced at night and on weekends in order to save energy. Modern automation controls the intensity of the heaters according to the external temperature. The equipment allows to ensure the comfortable temperature in the room even in severe cold and the mercury drop below -35 degrees Celsius.

The infrared heating system was launched in record time: specialists of LLC Kriogaz Service and CJSC Zavod Universal mash needed less than 3 months to develop the required documents, obtain approvals, install equipment and start the commissioning. The project was implements with the active support of CJSC Metallurgicheskiy Zavod Petrostal which provided the timely gas supply for the new heating system. The project budget amounted to 16 million rubles. The investments in the energy-saving equipment should be justified within three years. Even today the system allowed CJSC Zavod Universalmash to completely abandon the central water heating which proved to be more costly and less efficient when used in the industrial shops. In addition, the new equipment minimized the possible cases of hypothermia and illness of employees at the workplaces by providing the continuous heating of working areas and excluding changes in temperature.

The project provided the heating in the premises with high bays that were almost impossible to warm up with the central heating. So, if traditional batteries heat the air which afterwards accumulates under the ceiling of the shop, the infrared heaters directly heat the abjects around them, the floor and the equipment, which creates particularly favorable working conditions for the employees and minimizes loss of heat.

At the moment, there was adopted a decision to install the infrared heaters in the second assembly shop of CJSC Zavod Universalmash with area of 3,000sq.m and height of more than 30m. In addition, there considered the implementation of this technology on the production sites of other subsidiaries of JSC Kirovsky Zavod.

Today, infrared heating systems are widely used at the facilities of the leading foreign enterprises (e.g., BMW plant in Munich). Infrared heaters not only reduce loss of heat and allow to save energy by the shift use during the working hours and the possibility of spot heating of certain areas, but also eliminate the cost of creating and maintaining the expensive infrastructure (heating networks, boilers, pumping stations, etc.).
