OREANDA-NEWS. April 04, 2013. ICBC has recently reached a base of over 100 million mobile banking users, said the Bank today. Just two years after winning over 100 million online users, ICBC makes another record of over 100 million mobile banking users, making it the first commercial bank in China with "hundred millions of customers" in both Internet Banking and Mobile Banking.

According to an executive with ICBC, the bank started offering electronic banking services in 2000. Over a course of a decade, with continuous innovation and breakthroughs made in key areas, the Bank’s e-banking has developed from "next to nothing" to leading the pack. Especially in recent years, ICBC gathers pace in the launch of mobile financial services given the prevalence of mobile communication and wireless network. Mobile Banking (WAP), iPhone Banking, Android Banking, WindowsPhone Banking, iPad Banking and SMS Banking are innovative products on top of the bank’s unique services for its mobile banking users. In December, 2011, ICBC was the first bank in China to roll out the "ICBC Mobile Banking", an ICBC brand of mobile banking for extending ICBC services from "outlet" to "home", then "around you" - financial services "at the fingertips".

ICBC Mobile Banking represents a full range of ICBC mobile financial products including Mobile Banking (SMS), Mobile Banking (WAP), iPhone Banking, Android Banking and iPad Banking, offering a wide array of financial services for customers encompassing account enquiry, transfer/remittance, bill payment, precious metal trading, wealth management, foreign exchange settlement. ICBC also leverages its technological strength to help customers access and use these speedy services. GPS (Global Positioning System) function of mobile financial service is used to deliver useful information and navigation directions such as location of nearest bank outlets, banking hours. Meanwhile, ICBC Mobile Banking also includes value-added services and other services, such as services for customers to use mobile phone faster and easier for buying cinema tickets, air tickets or making golf reservation. Later, as more mobile banking services/functions are available, ICBC will turn mobile phone into an intelligent service terminal combining cash flow and information flow of customers.

In days ahead, ICBC will offer products and services in line with shifting trend and new technology to meet the change of customer demand, said an executive with the Bank. In service delivery, better, more, faster and more convenient financial services will be offered through Mobile Banking which are "low carbon, eco-friendly" green services.
