OREANDA-NEWS. Two DTEK’s office and amenity buildings were commissioned after the refurbishment and construction carried out as part of the programme for introducing the common corporate standard of office and amenity buildings (OAB). DTEK intends to complete refurbishment of two more facilities by the end of the year.

After the privatization procedures had been completed, one of the priority tasks for DTEK as the management company was to analyze the infrastructure condition of the newly acquired enterprises. All OABs of DTEK’s operational enterprises were thoroughly assessed. It turned out that the buildings meet official standards only by 50%.

‘We approached the topic of OABs’ refurbishment fundamentally because the working conditions of employees are of paramount importance for DTEK. The enterprises that became part of DTEK had been built in the middle of the previous century and OABs are in a poor state: tiles fall off the walls and wind blows through old window frames. Obviously, the company that is seeking to meet the European standards could not put up with such state of affairs. To create the most comfortable conditions for our employees we designed a uniform corporate standard for all OABs that does not only presuppose clean bath houses with hot water, but also, for instance, well-equipped and operational inhalation rooms, radiation therapy room, hygiene rooms etc. As of now, two OABs have been refurbished and put into service: at Kurakhovska TPP and Pershotravenske Mine Group. The total investment amounted to UAH 30 million. By the end of the current year we plan to accomplish the refurbishment of Dobropil's'ka CEP building and repair of the canteen at Kurakhovska TPP,’ comments Alexander Tolkach, Director for External Affairs of DTEK.

The office and amenity building of Kurakhovska TPP saw replacement of the utility networks, interior decoration/finish of the walls, floors and ceilings. New poured, self-levelling epoxy floors have been arranged in the cloakrooms, modern lockers for overalls have been installed, ventilated front and metal tile roofing of the building have been made. In addition, refurbishment of the health post building has been finished.

‘It is nice to start a work shift visiting refurbished cloakrooms and clean bath house. On the one hand, refurbishment is a trifle thing, but it enables you to feel a change for the better that is going on in our everyday working conditions. After old windows were replaced with new dual-pane PVC windows, you can really feel the difference. It is warm and there are no draughts. The exterior features of the building have changed too. Several times I heard employees of other organizations saying that they do not have such working conditions,’ comments Valentina Kasian, pump unit operator in boiler-and-turbine shop of DTEK Kurakhovska TPP.

Project of similar scale and complexity was implemented on the basis of Stepnaya mine site of DTEK Pershotravenske Mine Group. There, block 2 of the office and amenity building was built and put into operation. The amount of investment into the construction of that building made up about UAH 15 million.

Currently, OAB refurbishment at Novodonetska Mine, Bilozerska Mine Group of DTEK Dobropolyeugol is continued. In the short term, major overhaul of OAB is planned to be started at a number of other enterprises of DTEK. Some of them are Dniprovska Mine, CCM Pavlogradskaya, Pershotravenskyi Repair and Engineering Plant, Sverdlovska CEP, as well as two mines in Russia: Obukhovskaya and Dalniya. All the refurbished buildings are planned to be put into service by 2014.
