OREANDA-NEWS. Saint Petersburg hosted today a working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee and Algirdas Butkevicius, Prime Minister of the Republic of Lithuania.

The meeting participants discussed the bilateral cooperation in the energy sector.

The parties agreed to enter into consultations aimed at reaching agreements on the whole range of cooperation issues by July 31, 2013.


Background

Natural gas is exported to the Republic of Lithuania under long-term agreements effective through to 2015.

In 2012 Gazprom exported 3.3 billion cubic meters of Russian gas to Lithuania.

Lietuvos Dujos deals with gas purchase, transmission and distribution in the Republic of Lithuania as well as with Russian gas transit to the Kaliningrad Oblast. Gazprom holds a 37 per cent stake in the company.
