OREANDA-NEWS. NEC Corporation of America (NEC), a wholly- owned subsidiary of NEC Corporation, will demonstrate southbound interoperability and multi-site controller capabilities of its award-winning ProgrammableFlow Controller with switches from seven leading vendors during the Open Networking Summit 2013 on April 15-17 in Santa Clara, CA. Enhancements to the controller architecture will provide customers with multi-data center controller support in a more scalable solution.

The companies participating in interoperability demonstrations at the NEC booth # 103 include: Arista Networks (Arista 7050 Series); Brocade (Brocade MLXe Series); Centec Networks (V330); Dell (Dell Networking S4810); Extreme Networks (Summit X670(R)); Intel (Intel(R) Open Network Platform); and Microsoft Corp. (Windows Server 2012 with NEC extensible virtual switch PF1000).

"Many of our customers operate in multi-vendor environments, engaging with other vendors who also support the OpenFlow standard. Thanks to a joint commitment to open standards, we can deliver our solutions in environments that include networking devices from these other vendors," said Don Clark, director of Business Development, NEC Corporation of America. "In turn, we're expanding the reach of the ProgrammableFlow network suite in multi-site deployments. As a result, customers benefit from a broader vendor choice, higher availability, traffic optimization at each site/across all sites, as well as increased scalability and visibility."

"NEC was the first company to commercialize ProgrammableFlow using OpenFlow technologies," said Hiroyuki Watanabe, deputy general manager, Enterprise Networks Division, NEC. "These technologies are now the cause of a paradigm shift in the opening of networks. The very idea of OpenFlow is invigorating the marketplace and we are confident in its potential for growth, while verifying connectivity with a number of vendors. Going forward, NEC aims to continue building connectivity with the world's leading vendors, actively pursuing open-source initiatives and contributing to the resolution of business challenges through the development of new products and solutions."
