“Airport activity is strongly affected by seasonal changes. The warmer season is the time when people travel a lot, therefore, I have no doubts as to the positive effects of the summer season on the airport activity – it is bound to bring more life, especially given the fact that the number of carriers and flights has been increasing,” said Minister of Transport and Communications Rimantas Sinkevicius.

Regular flights during the summer season from Vilnius Airport shall be operated to 33 destinations, to 41 airports in 20 countries. 17 regular carriers operate at Vilnius International Airport.

“This summer season brings a number of new developments to Vilnius Airport – it welcomes new destinations and new carriers. There are new destinations – to Chania or Norwegian resorts – that become increasingly popular through and after the holiday season. There is a strong coverage of Ukraine and Norway, the airport also offers new possibilities to fly to densely populated Dusseldorf/Weez located in close proximity to the Dutch border, the communication with Stockholm has also been resumed,” VIA Director General at interim Darius Okunevicius provided the overview of the new developments.
