OREANDA-NEWS. April 12, 2013. Citibank and United Card Service (UCS), the largest payment card processing company in Russia and a subsidiary of the US-based Global Payments Inc., announce the signing of an agreement via which Citi will recommend to its clients UCS as an exclusive provider of POS and internet acquiring services in Russia. UCS will provide Citi’s clients with the full spectrum of card acceptance services, including the installation and servicing of POS terminals, organization of e-commerce, holding of training seminars and provision of ongoing technical support.

“We are glad to offer our clients the opportunity to use an acquiring service company which is rightfully considered one of the most qualified suppliers of POS and internet acquiring in Russia,” noted Natalia Belaya, Vice President, Head of Cash Management for Citi Russia, Central and Eastern Europe. “Thanks to this agreement we are able to provide our clients with complex solutions that will meet their growing needs, access to cutting-edge technologies and world experience in payment processing.”

UCS, which has been operating on the Russian market for more than 20 years, has extensive experience in acquiring services. To date more than 70 international and Russian banks have fully entrusted UCS with the responsibility of providing acquiring services to their clients.

“We believe that this agreement not only corresponds to the interests of Citi’s clients but also reflects a certain demand and trend in the payment cards market worldwide, whereby such specialized services as acquiring are transferred by universal banks to independent processing companies. This also means that the process of serving clients takes place in close cooperation and via mutually advantageous rather than competitive interaction between the partner bank and a company such as ours,” said Vladimir Komlev, General Director of UCS.
