OREANDA-NEWS. April 12, 2013. The Shandong Changyi Petrochemical Co has looked for ways to improve management, budgetary controls, and supervision and to continue its tradition of frugality, since the beginning of this year, and these moves have in fact paid off.

It has put a lot of effort into applying the Party Central Committee’s, the central government’s, and the China National Chemical Corp’s ideas on frugality and the fine tradition of thrift and avoiding any form of waste in its activities and management.

In its first move, Changyi Petrochemical has put strict controls on office expenditures, official receptions, and vehicle use and has cut the number of meetings, while finding ways to conserve energy and reduce consumption. In its official receptions, it is limiting the number of buffets and number of dishes. It has strict controls over the number and size of meetings and forbids any unnecessary meetings, and is reducing the use of paper for meetings, using PPT instead.

Second, it is pushing a paperless office automation system, where, instead of copying and sending documents it uses the Internet for document transmission. The company discourages the use of paper cups and has asked office workers to switch off lights when they leave the office, and to adjust the air-conditioning temperature reasonably, and switch off all electric devices when they are not in use.

Third, it has turned to finance, the administration, and supervisors for help and has strengthened budgetary controls by setting strict limits on travel expenses and meetings and has increased the supervision of purchasing. With these measures, the employees should feel proud if they can save more for the company and feel ashamed if they are wasteful.
