OREANDA-NEWS. Russia will complete the delivery of a batch of Mi-35M helicopters to Brazil this autumn, Director of the Russian Federal Service for Military Technical Cooperation (FSMTC), Alexander Fomin, told reporters on Wednesday.

"Nine out of 12 helicopters have been supplied. They have been put into service. Three are in the final stages of being given to the customer. They will be supplied to the customer in autumn," Fomin said when asked about the fulfillment of the contract to supply battle helicopters to Brazil.

Fomin said that their Brazilian partners gave high evaluation to the quality of Russian helicopters.

"This equipment raised the interest of our partners. Firstly, with its flight and battle characteristics and capacities," the FSMTC director said.

Fomin said that according to the evaluation of the Brazilian forces, Russian helicopters had powerful weapons systems and good defensive capabilities. Versions of these helicopters have been shown in Peru and Venezuela as well, he said.

"This aircraft has outstanding qualities for reconnaissance, patrol and redeploying troops. It can be used in heavy fire resistance from the ground," Fomin said. It is no coincidence that the helicopter is called a "flying tank," he said.

"The Aircraft has been proving its reliability and characteristics for many years in various local wars," Fomin said.
