OREANDA-NEWS. April 17, 2013. All the regions of Ukraine are holding agricultural fairs, where consumers can purchase qualitative goods at available prices. From the year beginning almost 17 thousand of such events were held with 151.8 thousand tons of goods realized by agriculturalists, farmers and cooperatives’ participants to the tune of over UAH 1.5 mln.

This was informed by Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Mykola Prysyazhniuk.

“One of the measures which enable consumers buying quality foodstuff at available price still remains agricultural fairs. Notably, there Ukrainians can always buy vegetables, meat and diary products directly from producers, avoiding mediators. Thus far, agricultural fairs have proved their effectiveness. Overall from the start of year almost 17 thousands were held all around Ukraine,” Mykola Prysyazhniuk emphasized.

Accoridng to the Minister, such events especially profitable for petty agriculturalists, farmers and participants of cooperatives. As here they can trade without mediators. Mykola Prysyazhniuk also added that from early January they had realized on food fairs 151.8 thousand tons of products to the tune of over UAH 1.5 mln. 

“Leading positions in the number of fairs held from the year start are taken by Dnipropetrovsk, Sumy, Kyiv and Volyn regions. Together with that, the biggest volumes of realization are observed in Luhansk region with 13 thousand tons, Odessa – with 12 thousnad tons, Ternopil – with 10 thousand tons,” the Minister informed.

Moreover, the head of the depertment stressed with apporaching of the Easter the number of such fairs would increase as in pre-holiday time demand for the agricultural products would grow. Respectively, the food fairs will facilitate to preserving tsable prices for foodstuffs.
