OREANDA-NEWS. Chongqing-Xinjiang-Europe Railway developed by Chongqing is getting more and more attractive, and Britain is willing to shorten the logistics period of trade with China by taking advantage of this railway. On April 17, the committee of the 16th China Chongqing International Investment and Global Sourcing Fair (Chongqing Investment Consultation (CIC)) claimed that Mayor Miller of Liverpool in Great Britain will attend this fair and conference on enlarging import of Chongqing-Xinjiang-Europe International Railway combined transportation passage. Mayor Miller will negotiate with Chongqing government officials on how would the railway extend to Liverpool crossing the English Channel.

The railway is an international logistics passage from Chongqing to the Europe. Starting from Chongqing, it successively passes Xi'an, Lanzhou, Uranmqi to the frontier port Alataw Pass, then passes Kazakhstan, Russia, the Republic of Belarus and Poland, and finally ends in Duisburg of Germany. Its full length is 11,179 km.

After its operation, the famous British media Thames commented: with more goods directly reaching the hands of customers in Western Europe by Chongqing-Xinjiang-Europe Railway, Chongqing and West China will be a more important engine to promote the development of China which is the second largest economic entity in the world.

However, many European countries prefer to take the Railway as a golden passage to open the market of Chinese inland. Such cities as Antwerp in Belguim, Amsterdam in Holland and Oryol in Russia have successively offered an olive branch to Chongqing and hope to export their featured commodities to West China by the Railway.

It is also the case of Liverpool. As the second largest commercial port in Britain, although it is separated with the continent of Europe by the sea, Liverpool plans to transport the train with goods by seagoing vessel which can carry train wagons to Duisburg Hafen (the largest river port in Germany), and then to Chongqing by the Railway.

According to some insider, the Liverpool side has started to investigate Chongqing-Xinjiang-Europe Railway and arrived at the conclusion that it will shorten nearly one month from by sea (from Liverpool in Britain to Shenzhen in China). Therefore, logistics enterprises and forwarder companies in Britain show great interest to the Chongqing-Xinjiang-Europe Railway.

Britain is one of important trade partners of Chongqing. From January to March in 2013, export value of Chongqing to Britain is USD 127.32 million, a year-on-year increase of 96.02%, and import value is USD 44.6 million, a year-on-year increase of 66.26%.
