OREANDA-NEWS. The Ministry of Agriculture, Fish and Hunting Industry of the Republic of Karelia was a venue for the meeting with representatives of TEWET AG, Germany, chaired by Minister Grigory Manuilov.

Objective of the meeting was discussion of the possibilities of construction of a biogas unit in the Republic of Karelia on the basis of Megrega Breeding Farm. Experts of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fish and Hunting Industry, Ministry of Economic Development, and State Committee for Administration of State Property and Placing of Orders for State Requirements took part in the meeting. TEWET AG was presented by the delegadion of the company led by managing director Carsten Hippenstiel.

Currently, there's no any biogas unit in the Northwest of Russia. In the course of the talks the parties have discussed the prospect of construction of such unit in Karelia. As experts of the ministry observe, this project deserves attention, although requires serious assessment. The German party is recommended to estimate economic feasibility of the project with all possible models of development – both pessimistic, and optimistic, to estimate risks, and to submit the finalized project to the Karelian party for further assessment and decision-making at the level of the Government of the Republic of Karelia.
