OREANDA-NEWS. April 24, 2013. The WB funded the project with USD 18 million, the World Environment Fund – USD 4.4 million, the Government of Sweden – USD 3 million, and the Government of Moldova – USD 2 million.

The project consists of 3 component parts. First one means the investments in the food supply security, the harmonization of legislation according to the EU norms, equipping the National Agency of Food Safety, creating two laboratories with international accreditation and 4 centers at the Customs Posts to check both the plant products and products of animal origin. The second component will contribute to merging of different agricultural producers.

Thus, 40 investment grants amounting to USD 350 thousand will be offered to them. The third component is aimed to maintain the sustainable management of soil and applying technologies for its preserving.

The farmers, who will liquidate the negative consequences of soil erosion, will get money compensations, and those, who will invest money into equipment to preserve the soils (no-till technique), will get grants amounting to USD 20 thousand. Moreover, in scopes of the project the planting of 20 hectares of woods is planned in the South of Moldova. The grants and compensations will be given by the Agency of support and payments in agricultural sector.
