OREANDA-NEWS. In India every year April 14 is being observed as National Fire Service Day in the memory of all Fire Professionals who lost their life in saving others life and property.

On this day, in the year 1944, the Fire Personnel displayed exemplary courage and devotion to their duty as they fought the huge Fire & Explosion at Victoria Dock, Mumbai. Many Fire Fighters lost their lives in this incident. Respect and homage is paid to all those Fire Fighters who lost their lives on this date.

In order to observe this important day and value the importance of the subject, Tata Steel observed National Fire Service Week from April 14-20, 2013.

The closing ceremony of National Fire Service week was organized by Tata Steel Fire Brigade department at Steelenium hall today. Mr. B.K. Das, Chief of Mechanical Maintenance graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Mr. S K Choudhary, Dy. Vice president, Tata Worker’s Union also made his presence as Guest of Honor.

Mr. A B Pillai, Head, Fire Brigade, Tata Steel informed the gathering regarding the various functions conducted during the Fire Service Week. Mr. Shyam Sunder, Chief, Safety & Ergonomics, Tata Steel addressed the gathering and shared his experience and knowledge related with fire safety.

Mr. Choudhary appreciated the noble and courageous job done by Tata Steel Fire Brigade members for the Company & Community.

Mr. Das highlighted the diversified and critical jobs performed by Fire Brigade department and also appreciated the initiatives taken with regards to domestic fire safety in schools and community.
