OREANDA-NEWS. PSC VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation took part in Shipbuilding Exhibition SMM India – 2013 held in Mumbai (India). This regional project of Germany Shipbuilding Show is held in odd-numbered years affording opportunities to form contacts with high-ranking representatives of Indian shipbuilding industry and shipyards, Navy and Coast Guard as well as ship owners.

This year PSC VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation delegation headed by Manager for Marketing and Sales for Machine Building Industry Yu. Shashkova presented a corporative stand of original design with using a video equipment broadcasting processes of manufacturing titanium semi finished products designated for shipbuilding among many other applications.

A lot of meetings took place during those three exhibition days. VSMPO-AVISMA representatives conducted negotiations with L&T concerning the contract performance according to which VSMPO products will be delivered in the third quarter of this year.

The Corporation is interested in extension of relationships with India planning to return its global position as a major sea power and consequently, develop its shipbuilding facilities. Before the crisis, in 2007-2008 it was India that owned 20% of total global overseas transportations. According to Indian mass media and one of the largest shipbuilders L&T, the first Indian nuclear submarine is already produced and now under successful testing, building of four more similar submarines with use of titanium alloys is planned.

Indian companies are active in development of hydrocarbon resources on continental shelf, which attracts new technologies and materials to sea platforms building.
