OREANDA-NEWS. April 30, 2013. This decision was reached by Agricultural ministers of Moldova and Russia Vasile Bumacov and Nikolay Fedorov during their meeting. Nikolay Fedorov advised exporters of agricultural products of Moldova to be more active when promoting their exports to Russia.

According to Vasile Bumacov, the export of Moldovan wine, fruit and vegetables have grown recently. Besides, quality of Moldovan exports has considerably improved and the list of exporters to Russia has been replenished with new companies. As it was said earlier, in January-February, 2013, the negative trade balance of Moldova with Russia made up USD64.6 million, 39.5% down as compared with the same period of 2012.

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the export of Moldovan goods to Russia amounted to a sum of USD 102.1 million in the reporting period, 17.3% up as compared with the same period of 2012, the import of Russian goods to Moldova shrinking 14% to USD 166.7 million. The share of Russia in the total amount of export from Moldova decreased from 28.5% to 28.3%, its share in the import declining from 26.6% to 22.1% in January-February, 2013.

Moldova traditionally exports to Russia wine, cognac, canned fruit and vegetables, juice. Moldova imports from Russia energy resources mostly. The data by NBS leaves aside trade operations of enterprises of the Transdniestrian region.
