OREANDA-NEWS.  May 01, 2013. POSCO completed construction of a Continuous Galvanizing Line (CGL) in Guangdong, China, establishing an optimized client service system in China offering one-stop services from production to processing and sales of high quality automobile steel plates.

At the completion ceremony of the annual 450,000 ton production scale CGL held in Foshan City of Guangdong Province, China, on April 15th, CEO Chung Joonyang, Gwangdong Province Guangzhou Consul General Yang Changsu, Guangdong Province Vice Governor Zhao Yufang, and 300 other local client companies and personnel attended.

At the ceremony, CEO Chung Joonyang said, ``By producing high quality steel plates for automobiles and home electronics, the Guangdong CGL will play a part in Guangdong Province becoming a global core base of the automobile industry and related parts.``

Galvanized steel (GI) and galvannealed steel (GA) that are used for automobile steel plates will be produced at this factory, which will then be sent to 11 specialized processing centers including POSCO-CFPC in Guangdong Province, POSCO-CSPC in Jiangsu Province, and POSCO-CCPC in Chongqing City, and sold to global automobile companies with locations in China including Toyota, Honda, Nissan, GM, Volkswagen, and Hyundai Kia Motors, as well as local Chinese automobile companies.

With the completion of the Guangdong CGL, POSCO can now offer integrated operations from production to processing and sales through POSCO China and 11 processing centers, which previously took products from Gwangyang Steelworks then processed them at the 11 processing centers for sales.

POSCO expects to expand automobile steel plate sales within China, projecting annual production of China`s automobile industry to exceed 380 million by 2020, and with Chinese automobile companies` localization and the expansion of policies on local procurement of global automobile companies.

Particularly, while other steel companies are only based in specific regions of Southeast Asia, POSCO has secured automobile steel plate production bases in areas close to large scale automobile industries in China, India, and Mexico, securing its position as a global steel company.
