OREANDA-NEWS. Members of the Association met in Mumbai, India, within the framework of the 44th General Assembly of the Association of World Trade Centers. World Trade Center Moscow was represented by Roman Gubenko, Director of the “Russia in the WTO” International Business Center” and Oleg Sazanov, Head of the Department of International and Regional Development of WTCM.

Yulia Kulish, Assistant to Director General of World Trade Center Moscow (MICEX: WTCM, ЦMT), acted as the moderator of the meeting.

Members of the Association discussed the matters of strategic development, enhancement of the services quality, as well as the prospects of expansion of the services range.

In his address Mr. Gubenko presented the large-scale work done by the IBC to inform Russian business community and to establish a special investment climate, which will promote development of international trade relations between Russian companies and their international partners. “We are willing to provide training workshops on the role of the Customs Union in the goods turnover of the participant countries, on the rights and obligations of the organizations upon Russia’s accession to the WTO, etc.”, said Mr. Gubenko.

Mr. Sazanov expanded on Mr. Gubenko’s address on the willingness to provide training workshops on work with the SCO for interested companies.

Mr. Karel De Gucht, the EU Trade Commissioner, presented to the participants information on development of bilateral trade relations between the European Union and India. Despite cultural differences and some communication problems the EU and India are currently at the last stage of negotiation of an agreement on free trade.

The participants note an important role played by World Trade Centers in the negotiations of such level and scale. According to Mr. Gubenko, World Trade Centers can act as communicators that would enable resolution of all arising problems in an expedient manner.
