OREANDA-NEWS. May 06, 2013. From now on, additional security for Internet purchases made with Citadele Visa and MasterCard payment cards will be guaranteed by the 3D Secure system.

As of June 26, Citadele will be ensuring maximal security for cardholders, including those who use additional cards, when paying for goods or services offered by Internet shops which are registered with the 3D Secure system. In addition to your name, surname, card number, expiration date and CVV2 security code, you will also be required to enter your Citadele Internet banking user name and authorisation code.

People who have not used the Internet banking system can make purchases without indicating their user name and authorisation code, and that can also be done by those holding corporate cards or additional cards for individuals. Beginning on June 26, all of the aforementioned information will have to be entered, and so those payment card users who have not used the Internet banking system but do plan to shop on the Internet are asked to connect the system. For more information, please contact any Citadele Bank office.

Thousands upon thousands of Internet shops in the world use the 3D Secure system already, and that number is increasing day by day. The Internet shops which have joined the 3D Secure system and support safe payments with payment cards have the “Verified by Visa” and/or “SecureCode” logo on their homepages.

You will still be able to buy goods and services from those Internet shops which have not registered with the 3D system, and in that case you will not be asked to enter additional identification data. That, however, will also indicate that shopping there will not be as secure as is the case with those shops that have registered with the system.
