OREANDA-NEWS. The Vale Institute of Technology (ITV), which coordinates Vale’s science, technology and innovation actions, invested BRL402 million between 2009, the year it was created, and 2012. Of this total, BRL338 million came from its own resources and BRL64 million was invested by external partners, such as Brazil’s national development bank BNDES and the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq). The investments encompassed 161 projects and 821 research grants in Brazil and other countries. These figures are part of ITV’s first investment catalogue, which was launched on Tuesday, April 30. The project portfolio is classified by geographical region, type and nature of research, business and type of mineral. The grants are also analyzed by region, area of knowledge and modality (technical, graduate course, postgraduate course, research and companies). The document also contains interviews with researchers and examples of research under way.
