OREANDA-NEWS. May 13, 2013. According to the latest figures, in April 2013 the Russian Railways' infrastructure carried 87.5 million passengers, 4.3% more year-on-year. Suburban passenger numbers rose to 79.8 million, an increase of 5.2% y-o-y, while long-distance passengers fell 3.5% y-o-y to 7.9 million.

Passenger turnover in April 2013 amounted to 9.4 billion passenger-kilometres, down 2.4% y-o-y.

In January-April 2013, passenger numbers rose to 326.2 million, an increase of 5.6% y-o-y, with 31.4 million long-distance passengers, down 2.3% y-o-y, and 294.7m suburban commuters, an increase of 6.6% y-o-y.

Passenger turnover on the Russian Railways' network since the beginning of 2013 fell by 1.1% y-o-y to 36.7 billion passenger-kilometres.
