OREANDA-NEWS. NPO Saturn underwent its first EASA supervisory audit during which the auditors from the European Agency verified the observance by NPO Saturn of the EASA Part 21 requirements. The audit results confirmed compliance of the SaM146 engine production organization with the requirements of the European regulations. No deviations preventing the prolongation of the POA certificate were identified during the audit.

Speaking of the results of the audit, Sergey Antropov, NPO Saturn quality director noted: “The fact that we have been awarded the POA certificate obliges NPO Saturn to respect each and every rule of the EASA-certified production quality assurance system. As Saturn is steadily ramping up its production volume, this becomes an uneasy task, but as we can see from the demonstrated results, it is feasible.”

As a reminder, NPO Saturn was awarded the EASA Production Organization Approval (POA) certificate one year ago, on 12 April 2012. In accordance with the EASA requirements, the validity of the certificate is to be confirmed every year. Therefore, next supervisory audit will take place in one year from now.

Having secured the approval of its organization, governing serial production of the SaM146 engines, from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), NPO Saturn started working on the EASA certification of its SaM146 engine repair setup. This will allow to considerably expand the scope of services rendered by NPO Saturn with regard to aviation-related products. The first certification audit of the NPO Saturn SaM146 repair organization already took place in February this year.
