OREANDA-NEWS. May 17, 2013. The office of the Federal Antimonopoly Service in the Republic of Dagestan (Dagestan OFAS Russia) fined “Dagenergoset” OJSC over 36 million Rubles.

Biunaksk Town Grammar School complained to Dagestan OFAS Russia that energy supply had been switched off without any advance notice. The complaint was corroborated by the acts on terminating electric power supply of 28th February and 5th March 2012, indicating that power had been cut off without warnings.

Dagestan OFAS Russia initiated an administrative case against “Dagenergoset” OJSC upon signs of violating the antimonopoly law.

Having investigated the case, the Commission of Dagestan OFAS Russia found that the company violated Article 10 of the Federal Law “On Protection of Competition” (abusing dominance) and fined it over 36 million Rubles.

However, “Dagenergoset” OJSC disagreed with the decision of the antimonopoly body and filed a lawsuit to Dagestan Arbitration Court, which dismissed the claim.

“Actions of “Dagenergoset” OJSC not only violated the antimonopoly law but also had an adverse social aspect but also frustrated lessons in the educational institution”, commented the Head of Dagestan OFAS Russia, Kurban Kubasaev.
