OREANDA-NEWS. The Government of Belarus hopes to compensate for the lag in GDP growth in the third quarter of 2013, Vice Premier Petr Prokopovich declared in Minsk.

According to the government’s official forecast, Belarus plans to see its GDP grow by 8.5% on the year in 2013. Belarus’ National Statistics Committee informed that the country’s GDP expanded by 2.5% on the year in January-April 2013. At the same time, Belarus posted a 3.5% GDP growth in Q1 2013 and 4.4% in Jan-Feb 2013.

Prokopovich has assured that the government’s efforts will hopefully produce the desired result.

The vice-premier also informed that Belarusian industries are expected to accelerate exports by 15% year on year in 2013.
