OREANDA-NEWS. Hefei, capital of East China's Anhui province, will pilot a China-U.S. program for low-carbon urban development, local authorities said.

China's Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and the U.S.Department of Energy signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) a couple of years ago, planning to work together on energy-efficient buildings and communities.

It was not until recently that the two sides released a list of six cities to pilot the program, including Hefei, according to the municipal committee of housing and urban-rural development.

Binhu district of the city will bring urban development like urban planning, design and construction of infrastructure and commercial and residential buildings, plus renewable energy harnessing up to standard set by the Chinese and American regulators in the program.
