OREANDA-NEWS. May 27, 2013. Representatives of Ukraine will enter to the scientific and industrial councils of the Skolkovo Russian innovation center.

Such an agreement was reached on Friday during a meeting of Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov with delegation of Skolkovo Fund.

"The Scientific Council has qualifications to choose projects that are the most efficient for the economy of Ukraine and Russia. Due to this we offer representative of Ukraine to enter the scientific and industrial councils," vice-president of the Russian Academy of Sciences Zhores Alferov said.

He noted that the Skolkovo has good experiences of commercialization of projects. Zhores Alferov said that today it is imperative to develop domestic production due to its own technology and actually regain the domestic markets, "no overtake but outstrip developed countries."

In turn, Mykola Azarov said that the main goal to convert breakthrough to technologies, and advanced technology to the business. "Innovative technologies have become a mainstay of the economy, rather than grain and metal," he said.

Premier said that the Government has done much toward bringing to Ukraine world advanced technology and develop our own. In particular, he added that the rules of the Tax Code are contributed to this.

Skolkovo is not the territory, but ideology. For us it is very important how to implement this ideology in Ukraine. So we need to work together. Science has no borders. And most importantly, Ukrainian and Russian science are very closely related," the Prime Minister said.

Zhores Alferov recalled that he often quoted Mr. Azarov from their meeting "GDP per capita can not lift by increasing the production of grain and metal, but only at the expense of innovative technologies."

Skolkovo is Science and Technology Innovation Complex in Moscow on the development and commercialization of new technologies. The complex has provided special economic conditions for companies operating in the priority areas of modernization of the Russian economy: telecommunications, space, biomedical technology, energy, information technology and nuclear technology.
