OREANDA-NEWS. In Q4 of 2012, the number of subscribers of mobile communication service in Georgia reached 4.7 million. As against Q4 2011, the number was increased by 6.1% (by 270 thousand). It is reported in the statement of the Georgian National Communications Commission (GNCC) on results of operation in 2012.

Density of subscribers of mobile communication made 104.5% as of the end of 2012.

Four Companies - Magti Ltd, Geocell Ltd and Mobitel Ltd (Beeline brand) as well as JSC SilkNet were operating at the market of mobile communication in Georgia in 2012.

As for incomes and number of subscribers, Company Geocell is the leader at the market of cellular communication. In Q4 2012, 41% of the total number of subscribers were consumers of Geocell, 37.3% - of Magti and 21% - of Mobitel (Beeline). JSC SilkNet started to operation at the market in December 2011, and the number of its subscribers made 31 957 by the end of 2012, while the market share made 0.7%.

The GNCC reports that retail income of mobile operators in 2012 made GEL 460.5 million (excluding VAT and excise tax), by 4.5% (GEL 19.8 million) more than in 2011. 74.9% of the incomes fall on voice service, 8.9% - on SMS, 3.9% - on Internet and 12,3% - on other supplementary services.

Already in 2003, the number of subscribers of the mobile network exceeded the number of subscribers of the local telephone network. The monthly income from mobile communication service of one subscriber in 2000 averaged GEL 57.74, in 2007 - GEL 22.59, in 2008 - GEL 25.13, in 2009 - GEL 22.1, while in Q4 2010 it was reduced to GEL 10.15 that was basically caused by introduction of the excise since 1 September 2010. The monthly income from mobile communication service of one subscriber averaged GEL 8-9 in 2011.
