Balakovo NPP: Ukraine’s Nuclear Workers Learn from Balakovo
OREANDA-NEWS. Specialists of NAEC Energoatom (Ukraine) paid a working visit to Balakovo NPP.
During the two-day meeting, which was held in the framework of the annual cooperation program of Rosenergoatom and NAEC Energoatom, the Ukrainian colleagues familiarized with the experience in preparation and replacement of turbine condensers at Balakovo and Kalinin NPPs.
The program of replacement of the secondary copper-containing equipment at Russian NPPs has been actively implemented and is to be completed in 2015-2016. Now, four Russian plants are participating in the program; these are Balakovo, Novovoronezh, Rostov and Kalinin NPPs. Representatives of all NPPs, which participate in the program, also came to Balakovo to adopt good practices of our nuclear specialists.
“It is not for nothing that the Ukrainian colleagues are interested in the experience in condensers replacement specifically at Balakovo,” Alexey Yemelianov, Chief Production Engineer of the Department for NPP Maintenance, Repair and Installation at Rosenergoatom, says. “Last year, during the repair campaign at Unit 1 all three parts of the condenser were successfully replaced. This unique work was done at Balakovo NPP for the first time. Given the replacement of large-size equipment, many problems were solved there and then; we had to gain experience in the course of the work and find efficient solutions. Balakovo NPP specialists solved the problem effectively and carried out the repair in a shorter time. No doubt, this is a merit of the plant management who clearly planned and organized all the works. Owing to Balakovo specialists, Rosenergoatom now possesses good experience, which it can share with its Ukrainian colleagues,” he said.
