OREANDA-NEWS. May 30, 2013. POSCO provides self-developed safety training for regular employees in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and outsourcing partners, taking the lead in win-win growth by creating a safe workplace.

Safety Training, a safety training program held from May 15 in Pohang Global Safety Center, is a program developed for regular employees of the consortium members so that they can act as safety leaders on site. A safety master of Safety and Health Office is the lecturer of this training program, helping the trainees to secure their own safety as well as their coworkers. In particular, the program examines 6 major safety matters such as high-place and heavy-duty work, gas safety, electrical safety, fire fighting, facility safety, and CPR (cardiovascular pulmonary resuscitation). Participants share the risks of accidents through the experiences of actual victims, and resolve to maintain safety in their own ways.

Safety Training Program, which will be carried out in 32 sessions until this December, will be attended by total 775 trainees. The employees to be trained will be gradually expanded to all employees in the outsourcing partners in the next 3 years.

Since 2005, POSCO has participated in the National HRD Consortium Project hosted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor, and actively provided education for employees of SMEs and outsourcing partners. The company has also provided customized education requested by SMEs as well as safety/job/innovation education to reinforce HR capabilities of SMEs.

POSCO will continue to broaden education opportunities by expanding the scope of SMEs to be trained, and provide autonomous training programs for SMEs through education consulting services. Moreover, POSCO will continue to practice win-win growth by enhancing educational support for SMEs that are selected to be developed into strong, independent medium firms.
