OREANDA-NEWS. The Chelyabinsk Pipe Mill (ChTPZ) hosted the 14th bi-annual meeting of the Coordination Council, a joint establishment of ChTPZ and ОАО Severstal, one of the world’s leading steel and steel-related mining companies, to coordinate the two companies’ joint efforts in prospective civil-engineering and oil & gas projects. ChTPZ and Severstal share a Cooperation Agreement which has been in existence since 2009.

At the meeting the Council reached an agreement on the implementation of a joint project called Establishing a Supplies Management System which will substantially cut down the turnaround time of steelmakers’ supplies to pipe manufacturers.

A similar project previously carried out by ОАО Severstal in cooperation with ОАО KAMAZ and ОАО RZhD (Russian Railways) enabled the Cherepovets Steel Mill (part of Severstal’s Russian Steel Division) to more than half the time of supply of rolls to the Naberezhnyie Chelny-based KAMAZ facilities.

Alexander Golodyagin, ChTPZ’s Deputy General Director for Strategic Cooperation, commented: “At the Coordination Council session, we made significant progress towards all parties’ objectives. Joining our efforts makes us more effective in handling a wide range of issues including product quality, volumes, deadlines and pricing. This session will serve a platform on which all parties can build.”

Dmitry Goroshkov, Marketing and Sales Director of the Severstal Russian Steel Division, commented: “We are highly focused on the development of innovative corrosion-resistant steel grades that will meet the ChTPZ’s needs. Our companies’ strong relationship will be incredibly beneficial as we embark on a number of ambitious oil & gas projects together.”
