OREANDA-NEWS. Vale invests in knowledge sharing and training for its employees through actions like its exchange program with Japanese multinational Mitsui. Since 2003, the initiative has allowed employees from these companies to immerse themselves in the daily lives of one another, starting with visits and presentations of its business areas. Each year a group of Vale employees from different areas is selected to spend about two months at Mitsui business units in Japan and vice versa. The initiative also allows participants to experience another culture and share experiences.

To mark the 10-year partnership between the exchange program companies, there were two commemorative events. In Rio de Janeiro, on May 27, five employees from the 2013 Mitsui group that are in Brazil met with Vale employees who have previously participated in the program. The same event will be held in Japan, on July 4, with the group of participants from Vale, which includes nine employees: seven from Brazil, one from Peru and one from China. In its 20th edition, the program is conducted through Valer, Vale’s corporate university, and has already had 211 participants: 109 from the Japanese company and 102 from Vale.
