OREANDA-NEWS. The automobile plant, KAMAZ’s finishing production unit, was awarded a diploma for its active participation in the long-term target program “Energy Conservation and Energy Efficiency Improvement in the Republic of Tatarstan for 2010-2015 and future years until 2020” in the nomination “Mechanical Engineering”.

The aim of the governmental program is to lower energy intensity of gross domestic product by 40% by 2020 relative to the level of 2007, and by 30.8% relative to 2010. KAMAZ actively joined in the work to increase energy efficiency, and the Automobile Plant achieved the highest results in 2012: specific consumption of energy lowered by 5.2% year-over-year, thermal energy – by 2.1%, natural gas – by 3.9%, water and waste water – by 1.07%.

Owing to the use of heat-generators, the plant manages to save RUB 5.5 mln a year. Thanks to replacement of ordinary lights with energy-efficient ones, more than five million roubles are saved annually. Participation in the program of supply of high- and low-pressure compressed air enables to save 3 million 50 thousand roubles a year. An internal audit which reveals misallocation also yields its results. Today, employees of all subdivisions of KAMAZ are involved in searching and eliminating losses.

Besides a rather obvious decrease of peak loads on the energy system of Tatarstan, energy conservation and energy efficiency measures contribute to lowering the prime cost of products – KAMAZ vehicles are becoming more affordable for customers.
